Spring

While it might still be a little too chilly for water sports, it doesn't mean you can't still have a lot of fun in Wilmington, Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure Beaches during the spring. On top of taking advantage of the lower rates, there are many reasons to visit the picturesque coastal towns of southeastern North Carolina in the springtime. With the temperatures warming up, it makes it easy to enjoy the outdoors again even if you're not quite ready to jump in the water just yet.

From more time to golf and fish to getting in some shopping and activities with the kids, you won't have a problem finding something to keep you entertained when you visit. Use this guide to spring in Wilmington and coastal North Carolina to get your wheels spinning and start planning your trip today.

Outdoor Sports

If you're an avid golfer or fisherman, you know that as the weather starts to warm back up then it's time to get outdoors and enjoy the sports you love. The surrounding Wilmington boasts many great courses that are perfect for golfers of all levels. Whether you're looking to get back into the swing of things so you can be at the top of your game this summer or you just want to have a good time, you'll enjoy the casual but challenging play of the coastal NC courses. Check out Magnolia Greens Golf Course for some more challenging terrain or the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course for more casual play at a more affordable price.

If your golf game is a little weak, you might have more luck fishing with many great species to catch in the spring. Try going on a deep sea fishing expedition to try and catch some mackerel or marlins or you can visit the local pier to fish from there. There are many areas to cast a line and enjoy some relaxing days without the worry of work or school. You'll probably only need a light windbreaker, if that, whether you head off or inshore.

Shop & Dine Around Town

Was winter long and tiresome? Are you in desperate need of a break? A little retail therapy just might be the answer to getting you summer-ready. With great shopping centers close by, you can pick up the latest in fashion trends and maybe find that perfect swimsuit to wear all summer long. Check out Mayfaire Town Center for more than 80 shops and restaurants to keep you busy all day long finding that perfect deal or souvenir. You can also visit Lumina Station which is another large shopping center just off the beach in Wilmington. That's not even to mention the other hundreds of shops throughout Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure Beach to browse through.

After you've shopped til you dropped, you can refuel at one of the many great restaurants along the coast. From seafood and local favorites to steakhouses and ethnic choices, you'll find something for any palate. There are also many great breweries in the area if you get a little thirsty as well.

Activities for the Kids

We all know that if you're taking a trip with your family, making sure the kids have fun and make memories is a priority. Luckily, the Carolina coast is the perfect place to make sure that happens. There are many attractions and activities around the various beach towns that are perfect for kids. Defy Gravity is a trampoline park in Wilmington that is a must-visit if you've never been to one before. With the floor being made of nothing but trampolines, your kids will have a blast and sleep well at night from exhaustion. If that's not enough excitement for them, take a trip to Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park for go karts, laser tag, mini golf, and an indoor jungle playground.

If you want something more laid back and educational then visit the Fort Fishers Aquarium to learn all about the local aquatic ecosystem. With many activities to do throughout the museum, this is a local and visitor favorite to help you and your kids learn more about the oceans and waterways that connect all of us. The USS North Carolina is another fun and educational stop as well. Walk across this massive battleship that participated in World War II and was considered the greatest sea weapon when it was constructed in 1937. There are many great activities for you to enjoy as a family and make sure that you captivate your kid's attention all vacation long.
