Movies in the Park: The Polar Express
When: December 2, 2022, at 6:30 pm
Where: Wrightsville Beach
Kick off your holiday season with Wrightsville Beach Parks & Recreation’s Movie in the Park showing of The Polar Express. This classic holiday movie is a fun family-friendly movie based on a beloved children's book about a doubting boy who embarks on an overnight train ride to the North Pole. The G-rated movie is beloved by all ages and perfect for a family outing. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic to Wrightsville Beach Park and find a spot on the lawn to enjoy this holiday movie.
Island of Lights Christmas Flotilla
When: December 3, 2022, at 6:00 pm
Where: Carolina Beach
Gather around the Intracoastal Waterway in Carolina Beach, North Carolina for the annual Island of Lights Christmas Flotilla. Local Fishing boats and pleasure crafts are decorated with thousands of lights for this spectacular display. The decorated watercraft will cruise from Snows Cut to the Carolina Beach Boat Basin and back. This event is open to the public to view for free. Viewers are highly encouraged to vote via text message for their favorite to determine who wins the People’s Choice Award.
Jingle on the Beach
When: December 10, 2022, from 10 am to 12 pm
Where: Wrightsville Beach
Head to the beach for a morning of holiday happenings at Wrightsville Beach Park. This family-friendly evening is filled with photos with a Beachy Santa, arts and crafts, youth performances, snacks, and a visit by the Azalea Festival Princess! This ticketed event benefits the Cape Fear Volunteer Center and Big Buddy. Tickets are available online or on the day of the event.
Christmas Cabaret: Hark! The Herald Angels Swing!
When: December 16-18, 2022
Where: Wrightsville Beach
Enchant yourself with the sounds of the holiday season at the stunning Blockade Runner Beach Resort. The Opera House Theatre Company presents their Christmas Favorite: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Cabaret and Dinner Show. This musical showcase starts at 6:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday the dinner is turned into a Brunch at noon. Reservations are required for this event, and you can purchase tickets online.
Kure Beach Holiday Whoobie Whatty
When: December 16, 2022, at 5:30 pm
Where: Kure Beach
Turn your Christmas into a grinchmas with Kure Beach’s Grinch-themed celebration at Ocean Front Park & Pavilion. This event kicks off with the announcement of the Kure Beach Cheermeister. Directly following the announcement there will be a viewing of the 2000 version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” While the film is playing, you can visit the booths around the park for face painting, grinch crafts, cookie decorating, and photos with the Grinch. This event is free to attend but they will be collecting donations to benefit the Help Center of Federal Point.
Island of Lights New Year’s Eve Celebration
When: December 31, 2022, at 9 pm
Where: Carolina Beach
Ring in the new year at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk! Celebrate New Year's Eve with the Island of Lights New Year’s Eve Celebration. This family-friendly event features a DJ and Dancing with refreshments and party favors available for purchase. Then at midnight, don’t miss the giant beach ball drop at midnight followed by an extravagant fireworks display.
