Description

Spend your next beach vacation rocking on the spacious wraparound porch at “Cardwell”. This seemingly ocean front home sports great ocean views and was designed by an architect associate of Frank Lloyd Wright. Although this home is technically one house back from the beach front, the unique staggered lots on the north end of the island ensure picture perfect views and a feeling of privacy. The private road with no public parking will make you feel as though you have the beach to yourself. Don’t miss your chance to vacation in this one-of-a-kind cottage!

The main living level of “Cardwell” has a large living-dining area with cathedral ceilings. A series of sliding glass doors wrap the home to allow natural light to flood the living space and showcase the picturesque views beyond. The kitchen and bathrooms have been lightly updated to make a comfortable space to prepare home cooked meals for the family. A large dining table provides ample seating and opens to the main living space that is furnished with plenty of seating options. Just off the kitchen is a small multi-purpose room that includes a bunk bed (twin over twin), half bathroom, and laundry facilities.

Down the hall on the main living level is a full bathroom that serves the nearby guest room that is furnished with two beds, a twin, and a queen. This guest room has a large sliding glass door that leads to the ocean side deck and offers a nice view of the ocean. The primary suite is located at the end of the hall and features a lush kind sized bed, walk in closet, dual vanity, walk in shower, and gives direct access to the wraparound porch. Wake up each morning to the waves crashing and palms blowing in the soft breeze.

A spiral staircase located in the living room gives this home unique character and leads to the top floor where there are three additional bedrooms. At the top of the stairs, you will find a full bathroom complete with a walk-in shower. This bathroom serves the upstairs bedrooms. To your left is a guest room with a queen-size bed and built-in seating. This bedroom overlooks the main living area below and features some very eye-catching angles designed by the architect. To the right of the stairs there is a second guest bedroom with a queen bed that is framed by a series of windows that make the room feel bright and airy. This guest room also overlooks the living area below and directly leads to the third bedroom which provides a full bed. Given that the full bedroom directly connects to the queen guest room this sleeping arrangement is ideal for families with small children.

Stay Requirements: Saturday to Saturday rental in summer. Minimum of 2-night stay in other seasons.

Parking: Parking on site for 4 vehicles.
Pet Policy: No pets allowed.
Prohibited: Boat Trailers, Smoking, RV’s, Boats, Pets, Charging Golf Carts, Mail and Packages are not able to be sent to the rental.

Ocean front feel! House ac is inadequate. Hence moldy smell. Comfortable master bedroom. Quirky set up upstairs.

We have family and have stayed in several of the homes on Wrightsville Beach. This is our familes favorite- this hear was our 4th time at the beach house. You can't beat the location on the quiet end of the beach- lots if privacy. The deck and views are amazing . They updated the house and it really now has thae beach cottage feel . The kitchen is huge -We are already booked for next year !

Little water pressure in the master shower. Upstairs bedroom TV did not work. The grill was so filthy it would get hotter than 300 degrees. I had spoken to Morgan on Aug 10th to make sure the grill had propane which it did. As a result, the grill was useless. We ended up cooking my birthday meal on the stove:((( Broken window blinds upstairs.

Thank you for your feedback on the Cardwell property, Courtenay. We wish you would have made us aware of any maintenance issues prior to checking out, as we could have quickly resolved them. After you checked out, the owner replaced the shower head in the bathroom as well as the outdoor shower head and we are happy to say they are both working wonderfully. We never got any reports that the grill was not clean, but had you made us aware we could have sent the housekeeper back to fix it. There might be multiple typos in your review, are you saying there was no propane? If so, again, that would be a simple maintenance call to replace as we keep spares right down the road at the office. Regardless, the owner has replaced the grill and made sure there was propane available. If you stay with us again, please know we have staff on call 24/7 to address any issues that arise during your stay and encourage you to call us in that case. Cardwell is a wonderful property, and the owner has done some significant upgrades before summer including new flooring, furniture, and décor throughout. They have also simplified the system operations for the televisions as they care a great deal about their guests’ experiences and strive to continually improve their home in ways that create conveniences for vacationers. Cardwell is also just steps from the beach access and has plenty of deck space to enjoy the view! Hope you will consider our local company for your next vacation - take care!

Nice location. Plenty of room for our family. Downstairs facilities were a bonus. Lots of porch furniture and windows.

Overall, our stay was good. The location of this property is fantastic. The house itself could use some refreshing but it met our needs. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fairly well supplied.

House was located at the perfect spot, steps from the beach, on a serene end of the island and is of great size for a large amount of people. Vacation was much fun and the beach was beautiful. Air unit was an issue not cooling the place, Bryant responded quickly however. In the end we would use Bryant again but not stay at this location.

House was in great location. House is very dated and shows its age. Kitchen is well stocked. Two problems while there. The house has a flea problem and the screen door to the main entrance was in bad shape.

The house is a great family place. We have been there for the last few years with our children and grandchildren. Lots of fun. Mattresses need replacing for a good night's sleep! Great update on the baths.

Rented this home for a long awaited family vacation. The kitchen is updated with anything you need.The deocorating and furnishings are relaxed cottage style. The view and deck are worth every penny! Wrap around deck offers shade and a great breeze anytime of day. The ocean view is beautiful. Short walk to the beach on a path. The beach is your own-very private and quiet, but a short walk will get you to the pier and and actiivy. Will rent this house again!

We recently spent a week in this house. Location was wonderful. Couldn't have been better. The house was large and easily accommodated a large group. Décor and furnishings are old but comfortable. Only issue was the air conditioning which just couldn't keep up with the hot weather so it was a bit uncomfortable at night.

The week was great. This home is very nice and the location and view are worth every cent. Loved the porch with all the rockers. Mattresses could be upgraded. Dishwasher needs to be replaced! Central air needs to be upgraded! Have stayed at this property for several years and will continue to bring the family and grandchildren back again and again!
