If you're planning wedding or are recently engaged, you're probably wondering how you're going to pull it all off right about now. Smaller ceremonies have quickly become the norm, but "micro weddings" were actually picking up steam over the past couple of years among couples who wanted a simpler more affordable wedding. Did you know the average wedding cost in 2019 in the U.S. hit nearly $34,000?

While we can't disagree that big, beautiful weddings are wonderful and fun, there is a level of presence and intimacy that only smaller weddings can provide.

If your wedding plans have changed or you have recently become engaged, a micro wedding is definitely worth exploring. At Bryant Real Esate, we're here to offer some Coastal North Carolina advice if you're planning a micro wedding and looking for a destination.

What is a Micro Wedding?

A micro wedding is a small, intimate ceremony with no more than 50 people. Note: North Carolina currently has a 10-person indoor gathering limit and a 25-person outdoor gathering limit.

Micro weddings can have all of the same festivities and traditions of a larger affair, but simply at a smaller scale. Micro weddings cost anywhere from $1,600 to $10,000 depending on the size of the guest list and which components you opt for or forego.

North Carolina Micro Wedding Checklist

If you are getting married on the beach in North Carolina, you'll need to decide which other aspects of a larger celebration you'd like to include in your micro wedding. There are no rules. Choose what works for your preferences and budget.

Tips for Planning a Micro Wedding along Coastal Carolina

Micro Wedding Venues near Kure, Carolina and Wrightsville Beaches

First things first, you need to decide on the wedding venue first.

  1. DIY on the beach. You can rent a beach-front home and have your small ceremony (of 25 people or less) right on the sand while the Atlantic Ocean lolls in the background. You can then enjoy a catered reception or a fun potluck back at your beach rental or opt for a sit-down restaurant. For a casual welcome dinner or reception, you can reserve private tables for small groups at many local restaurants.
  2. More traditional venue. You can hold your small ceremony and catered reception at a local venue, like Wrightsville Manor and the River Room (located in Wilmington).

If you do choose to host your micro wedding at your Bryant Real Estate rental home, our staff will be happy to provide vendor recommendations for catering and any other needs.
